Women-Owned Businesses Part II

Every March we celebrate women-owned local businesses carried at the Co-op. Here are two more awesome small businesses owned and operated by savvy Maine women.

Lucky Pigeon Brewing Company

Lucky Pigeon Brewing Co is Maine’s first dedicated gluten-free brewery and opened to the public in 2021. Kathleen and Bev Pigeon, along with Bev’s sister, Lesley Bramer and her husband, Nic Bramer founded Lucky Pigeon Brewing in Biddeford, ME with a mission to make beer that is safe for those with intolerance to gluten and simply delicious to all. After removing gluten from her diet for health reasons after the birth of their second son, Pidge began homebrewing gluten-free beer and wanted to bring a Maine-made product that offered great taste, variety and seasonality to lovers of craft beer who happened to need a gluten-free option.

Red Kettle Foods

Naturally fermented in Belfast, Maine, Red Kettle Kimchi brings fresh Maine ingredients and time-honored Asian tradition together in a delicious blend of sour, sweet, spice, and umami. Each jar of kimchi is hand made in small batches, seasoned with Maine sea salt, and slow-fermented to tasty perfection. The company is founded by Ger Liang Tysk, a chef, sailor, and artist whose recipes are inspired by her Asian-American heritage.
