This week's staff pick is from Torsten, Wellness Manager. "Maine Medicinals Relax and Restore is my staff pick because it helps me relax my mind and body throughout my busy schedule. Personally, I prefer herbal options for stress that can be taken any time of day since mornings can be the most challenging part of my day. Each one of these herbs -Skullcap, Passionflower, Tulsi Holy Basil, Lemon Balm, and Schisandra - are ones I love to work with on their own to reduce stress, but having them all in one place is an incredible help on the busiest days when I need them most.
I can attribute the blend's additional ability to help my shoulders and back release tension or soothe a headache to Skullcap, Passionflower, and Tulsi. I can attribute the blend's ability to soothe nausea to Tulsi and Lemon Balm. Schisandra and Tulsi are the two adaptogens in the blend, helping us to balance stress hormones and get out of fight or flight. I usually go with a dropper full, but on harder days I appreciate that the blend is flexible enough to allow me to take 3-5 droppers if needed. One nice thing about it too is that Skullcap, Tulsi, and Schisandra have some cumulative benefits, so I feel like I've gained some more balance from taking it frequently for the last few months."

Ever dreamed of growing your own blue oyster mushr

Ever dreamed of growing your own blue oyster mushrooms? We sure have! North Spore from Portland, ME, has provided us with yet another delightful 'Spray & Grow' Organic Mushroom Growing Kit: Blue Oysters. This beginner-friendly, countertop kit produces a large flush of beautiful light grayish-brown to deep blue-gray mushrooms within 5-20 days and - with proper care and humidity - can yield 2-3 flushes.
Blue Oyster Mushrooms are velvety, savory, mild, and versatile. A crowd-pleasing recipe from North Spore is to chop the oyster mushrooms and sauté them in a heavy pan on medium heat with butter, garlic, and loads of fresh thyme and rosemary (or any other fresh herbs you might happen to have on hand!) Cook until the mushrooms have released their liquid, then continue cooking until that liquid has cooked off and the mushrooms begin to brown. This can take between 20-30 minutes. Deglaze your pan with a splash of white wine, reduce it once more, and finish with a touch of heavy cream. Season generously with salt and enjoy!
