These tea blends are all designed with wintertime in mind, leaning towards warming herbs to enliven the mind and body. These blends make excellent gifts or daily support. These recipes can even be combined to form a winter superblend. Play with the ratios as you see fit!
Winter Sun
- Rosemary leaf
- Dried ginger root
- Calendula petals
- Optional: black, green, rooibos tea
- Optional (but very sunny): fresh lemon
This blend is herbal sunshine, designed to boost circulation to the brain and limbs, keeping us feeling awake via healthy blood flow instead of relying on caffeine. Even a simple tea of rosemary alone is a powerful ally for keeping our bodies warm and our minds alert during the winter. Pro tip: as long as you’re not on any medications, try 10 drops of St. John’s Wort tincture added for additional herbal sunshine and mood support.
Bringing the Family Together
- Tulsi
- Rosemary
- Lemon balm
- Optional: Peppermint or spearmint
This uplifting blend brings mint family members together and helps support our mind and emotions, digestion, and respiratory function. If you would like additional relaxation or stress support, consider adding another Lamiaceae (mint) family member, such as skullcap or lavender. If you’re not a fan of peppermint or spearmint, go ahead and skip it; the tea will have lovely aromatics from the other family members.
Hug in a Mug – Relaxing blend for anytime
- Skullcap
- Linden
- Rose (a little goes a long way!)
This soothing blend can be a beautiful support for daily stress or for relaxation before bedtime, designed for helping the mind to stop overworking without being overly sedating.
Optional additions: Tulsi, Lavender, Lemon Balm, etc. or add passionflower or valerian for additional support before sleepy time.
I can breathe again!
- Mullein
- Tulsi
- Ginger root
- Cardamom seeds
This powerful combo brings a balance of moisture, relaxation, and warmth back to the lungs— three big challenges we face in winter. This blend is my go-to when I am sick in any way. This can be customized many ways, such as by including Calendula for lymphatic support.
