This week, we held a fantastic Trust Your Gut – Herbs to Regulate, Nourish, and Heal Your Digestive System with Clinical Herbalist and Community Educator Mo-Katz-Christy. If you missed it and you’d like to learn about gut health from Mo, check out their website to explore their future class offerings, learn from their writings, or to schedule a one-on-one clinical consultation.
In the past year, I have felt inspired to level up the number of wellness classes we hold here at the co-op. It is the number one request we hear from visitors of the wellness aisle for an additional offering they’d like to see from the co-op. Classes held at the co-op are free to all in our community and are one of my favorite benefits provided to people who come here. We held a successful tea talk in March with myself, Crystal DaCosta, and Christina Martel, a Q&A in June, and now Trust Your Gut with visiting herbalist Mo-Katz Christy. This was our best turnout so far, supporting over a dozen community members with herbal wellness knowledge.
We also received excellent comments from attendees and we are looking forward to incorporating feedback into future classes. We always want to make sure your favorite parts are included again and again.
Attendees of the class praised the ability to ask questions in the class. They also said they valued being able to share about themselves which led to learning what they needed. Multiple people said their favorite part was tasting herbal teas. This is my favorite part too! Multiple people also appreciated Mo’s extensive knowledge of the topic, and we will continue to uphold that standard of offering relevant, detailed information on chosen topics. Mo set an excellent example of what a knowledgeable teacher should look like, and we are so grateful!
Attendees asked for a quieter environment for classes to be held, and in the future we will explore options such as reserving the cafe so that attendees can better hear and focus on presenters, holding classes outside as weather allows, having a mic for presenter, etc. If you gave us constructive feedback, thank you! We are always trying to improve.
We were asked for future classes on foraging, plant identification, intro to mushrooms, support for Lyme’s disease, and more classes and workshops similar to Trust Your Gut.
Our co-op community members were able to find this class by looking in the Weekly Packet, staying tuned to the Co-op’s email newsletter, looking for flyers hung in the co-op, and from working at the co-op. You too can stay tuned to future events through these channels, by staying tuned to our Events Calendar, or by asking our wellness department employees about upcoming offerings.
